Collaboration: Pearl Harbor National Memorial/NPS

 

Goal: Place-based and virtual education and interpretation curricula was designed to support Pearl Harbor National Memorial and the history of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Accomplishments:

• Standards-based curriculum designed for local, mainland, and international youth and educators in grades PreK to high school.

• Live interactive virtual tour at Pearl Harbor National Memorial, including the USS Arizona Memorial.

• Increase in student groups participating in place-based learning at Pearl Harbor National Memorial.

“The heart of learning the history of Pearl Harbor was the opportunity my students had to visit Pearl Harbor National Memorial. My students were able to connect the content taught in the classroom with physically experiencing the site where it all happened. The guided tour and activities provided the connections for my students to fully understand the history of Pearl Harbor” a local educator
